January 3, 2023: The “work year” starts today for most of us since yesterday was counted as “New Years — observed.” I’m starting a new assignment at work today and started early to clean up messes from the past and to set some new thinking in place. Here is a thought about freedom I wrote today in my journal:

“Freedom starts in your Spirit; that is, in your mind and in your heart, and in your actions. Freedom is not bestowed upon you; it is not your privilege to fritter away your time.” ACTUALLY, that’s wrong -

It’s our privilege to use our time as we will. It’s called Agency. We can create something daily or waste all our hours; it’s up to us.

I believe we account for our time on Earth. I happen to believe in God, you believe as you will. As 2023 unfolds, I decided to change several things in the way I interpret life:

  1. Embrace my activities with the notion, “I get to….” rather than “I have to…”
  2. Doubt my doubts, face my fears, take regular action rather than honor excuses, seek approval, and wallow in regret.
  3. Love others and listen for their greatness instead of judging them by my expectations.
  4. Resume learning daily and apply the learning immediately.
  5. Be willing to be really bad at something worthwhile…
