2023 and some thoughts about Freedom
January 3, 2023: The “work year” starts today for most of us since yesterday was counted as “New Years — observed.” I’m starting a new assignment at work today and started early to clean up messes from the past and to set some new thinking in place. Here is a thought about freedom I wrote today in my journal:
“Freedom starts in your Spirit; that is, in your mind and in your heart, and in your actions. Freedom is not bestowed upon you; it is not your privilege to fritter away your time.” ACTUALLY, that’s wrong -
It’s our privilege to use our time as we will. It’s called Agency. We can create something daily or waste all our hours; it’s up to us.
I believe we account for our time on Earth. I happen to believe in God, you believe as you will. As 2023 unfolds, I decided to change several things in the way I interpret life:
- Embrace my activities with the notion, “I get to….” rather than “I have to…”
- Doubt my doubts, face my fears, take regular action rather than honor excuses, seek approval, and wallow in regret.
- Love others and listen for their greatness instead of judging them by my expectations.
- Resume learning daily and apply the learning immediately.
- Be willing to be really bad at something worthwhile…
